Photographer

Jon Welsh has worked as a Photographer for over 30 years.

A keen interest in Photography, kindled from an early age of 8 yrs old specifically ,while on Holiday in Amsterdam, using a 35mm Instamatic camera. Fascinated by the process and almost addictive nature of pressing the shutter!

Initially studying Art and Graphic Design, he later worked as a Graphic Designer, notably in the Art Department of a Feature Film, 'Running Brave' in Canada during the 80’s. The story of a Native American, who successfully entered the Olympics as runner.

Self taught, he began in earnest using a 35mm camera Yashica, loaded with Kodachrome 64, in Mexico 1983. From this point onwards, the decision to become a photographer had been decided.

Subsequently assisting  in London with Leading Advertising Photographers , he learnt the craft using large format film.

Working in Advertising, Publishing and Editorial sectors, a successful career ensued, including Landscape and Travel.

Works with Royal Navy Recruitment campaign, Sony ,Motel Rocks and many other Blue Chip Companies, AA Publishing and Visit Britain, always delivering on point.

Focusing on Personal Documentary, Abstract and Street Projects, Jon is constantly creating fresh bodies of work.

His work has been shown alongside Gavin Turk and Sir Peter Blake,in Solo and Group shows in UK National and Private Galleries. Notably the New Walsall Art Gallery, Millenium Gallery in St Ives, Salisbury Arts Centre and the Saatchi Gallery in London. 

Nominated in the Abstract Professional category in 2007, Masters of Photography Color Awards.
