Photographer

Jon Welsh has been a professional photographer for over 30 years, with a passion for photography that began at the age of 8. His fascination with capturing moments started during a holiday in Amsterdam, where he used a 35mm Instamatic camera and became enthralled with the process.

Initially, Jon studied Art and Graphic Design, working as a Graphic Designer in the Art Department of the feature film "Running Brave" in Canada during the 1980s. The film tells the inspiring story of a Native American who competed in the Olympics as a runner.

Jon is a self-taught photographer who began his journey in earnest with a Yashica 35mm camera loaded with Kodachrome 64 in Mexico in 1983. This experience solidified his decision to pursue Photography as a career.

He subsequently honed his skills by assisting leading Advertising Photographers in London during the mid 80’s, mastering the use of large format film. His successful career encompassing the Advertising, Publishing, and Editorial sectors, with notable projects for the Royal Navy Recruitment campaign, Sony, Motel Rocks, AA Publishing, Visit Britain, and other blue-chip companies.

Jon's portfolio includes Landscape and Travel photography, and he continually develops new bodies of work focusing on Personal Documentary, Abstract, and Street Projects. His work has been exhibited alongside renowned artists such as Gavin Turk and Sir Peter Blake in solo and group shows at prestigious venues, including the New Walsall Art Gallery, Millennium Gallery in St Ives, Salisbury Arts Centre, and the Saatchi Gallery in London.

In 2007, Jon was nominated in the Abstract Professional category at the Masters of Photography Color Awards
